The History Bluff is in Good Hands

Beginning Thursday, June 12, the lead writer of The History Bluff, Dave Newell, will be in Ohio until Saturday, June 21. However, the blog will continue to roll on – making a mess of history as usual. Special thanks to Phil of www.ElvisBlog.net for maintaining the blog in Dave’s absence.

Speaking of Elvis…

President Nixon slips Watergate tapes to Elvis Presley.

Not to be confused with the Presley-Nixon meeting on December 21, 1970, Elvis also stopped by the White House in 1973. Nixon was entrusting Elvis Presley with Watergate tapes as officials would not tie Presley to the Watergate scandal.

Presley later released the tapes, breaking the Watergate scandal wide open, ending with Nixon’s resignation in 1974.
